Teaching and Training in General Practice

Southbank Medical Clinic is a teaching practice accredited to host medical students from Monash University. We also have a strong focus on training of future general practitioners as they begin specialisation in general practice. Our practice has been involved in the training of GP registrars through MCCC GP Training since 2017. GP registrars are trained medical doctors with several years of hospital experience and they are a vital part of our clinic. A number of our GPs are supervisors providing teaching, support and mentorship to GP trainees while the registrars are completing their training term. We believe having GP registrars and medical students assists in raising and maintaining standards of care as it helps all the doctors in the practice to stay up to date.
